What is advocacy? Advocacy is an important component of our Clinic Programs, including
child & adolescent, therapy, Advocacy is aimed at providing Through these programs, an Advocate may be assigned to work more intensely with the troubled youth in the community setting.
Why advocate? An Advocate is a positive adult role model who works with youth under the direction of a supervisor, therapist, or caseworker to meet certain therapeutic goals. These goals consist of building the youths self-esteem, becoming involved in positive activities, and helping them to succeed at school or reducing family conflict. Advocates work closely with their supervisor and the youths therapist to communicate significant information regarding the youth and family. An Advocate is also responsible for attending and participating in monthly skill training opportunities. This skill training allows the Advocate to become better oriented to issues related to working with youth and their families and Center policies and procedures. Advocates are paid an hourly wage in addition to reimbursement for
mileage and recreational activities.
