What is a Helping Home?

A “Helping Home” is an individual or couple who agrees to assist a youth in need of temporary housing and receive compensation for services.

“Helping Homes” are geared to assist youth who are homeless, in need of short-term respite from their custodians, or runaways.

There are benefits to becoming a “Helping Home” parent. Parents are compensated $50 nightly for housing a youth, are reimbursed for mileage if they choose to transport a child. Foremost, “Helping Home” families experience inner satisfaction in helping a child!

Helping Home Parents are asked to go through a certification process similar to the licensed foster care program. Parents must be at least 21 years old, of good moral character, and willing to participate in a background check. Once this check is complete, selected families will receive special training and certification from the Center and will be recognized as an official “Helping Home” site.

Helping Home Parents will receive...
Pertinent information about the child and their current circumstances. Parents have the option of accepting or rejecting any referral made by The Center for Children’s Services. Upon accepting a child into your home, a Center for Children’s Services counselor is available to assist you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
