IMAGE Group is

A safe place where girls can express their “whole self” through talking, doing, creating, and having fun with other girls. Groups can help teens grow emotionally, intellectually, and socially.

What topics will the group address?

Participants are allowed the freedom to choose topics for discussion as a group. This will allow the girls to focus on issues that are most important to them and will help foster self-awareness and critical thinking. The group is also designed to increase healthy coping and decision making skills. Issues addressed in groups have included:

  • Setting goals and planning for the future
  • Establishing a healthy body image
  • Developing positive self-esteem
  • Building coping skills to deal with stress and depression

What will I be doing in the group?

The girls will work together with professionally trained Center staff using:  Dialogue, Drawing, Creating Collages, and Journaling to explore important questions such as:  Who am I?  What are my strengths?  Am I making good decisions?

How long does the group meet?

Girls attend the group for twelve weeks. Each session last approximately 1 1/2 hours and meets every week.

The IMAGE Group is open to girls ages 6 through 16
