Why join the Parenting Skills Group?

Parenting a child is one of the most challenging, frustrating and rewarding tasks any human will ever undertake. Our children are born into this world entirely dependent on us. Debate continues about whether they are more influenced by their genetic background or their environment - the “Nature vs. Nurture” argument. Researchers agree that the single most important influence on our children in their lifetime is YOU - their parent!!

What topics will the group address?

The group will address many issues including:

  • Babies do not come with instruction manuals.
  • If you have more than one child, you know that what works with one does not necessarily work with another.
  • How do you make decisions regarding your children that are fair and consistent?
  • How do you decide what is a fair expectation of them?
  • When you make a decision your children don’t like, how do you handle the response of  “I HATE YOU!” or “ YOU DON’T LOVE ME!” ?

The Parenting Skills Group will try to answer these questions and many more.

Being part of this group does NOT mean you are a bad parent; it means you want to be better at the toughest job on earth.
